I have never read her book CKR but I wanted to tell you about it because I know a lot of my readers love their books. They also love good people with big hearts who go out of their way to be kind to others and do what they can to help.
During Hurricane Irene, a personal friend of mine Stacey and her family were displaced along with 3 other families when their home was condemned. With damaged belongs and her two boys in tow, single Mom Stacey, turned to her community through Facebook and through a forum of Kid Rock Mega fans she belongs to.
Stacey's community is working to throw a benefit and local Facebook pages have been posting how to donate to Stacey and her boys as they search for a place to stay and she replaces things she has lost. Dawn, has also moved forward and started a fund for Stacey and her boys (you can see it here).
Dawn, if you ever read this, thank you for all you have done. Thanks for thinking of others and putting their needs above yours. This is truly a wonderful trait that is getting harder and harder to find in people. I am sure you didn't do this for fanfare but a little publicity never hurt anybody. My readers love to read and love hearing about new books. Plus, like you, they are wonderful people. I receive Christmas cards, care packages, photos and emails from them often. They will love hearing about your good deed and might even have a new book to add to their must read list!
So, dear readers, here is what I found out about Dawn's book.

According to Discovery News, keeping kids entertained on a long car ride is one of a parenting's greatest challenges – and sometimes good old car games just don't cut it. That's where ToyToyota comes in. Its new (free) app "Backseat Driver" taps into the iPhone's GPS functionality to mirror the route of the real car in which the player is riding – allowing players to earn points by collecting objects and reaching certain mileages.
Sometimes even the best recipes need a little tweaking. This year, we need your help deciding which finalist will be the 13th contestant on season 2 of Next Great Baker. We want our viewers to size up hopeful members of Carlo's Crew and vote here for the contestant they think is most likely to knock Buddy's apron off. The next season of TLC's Next Great Baker will have tougher challenges, bigger prizes and higher expectations, so if these contestants can't stand the heat, well... you know the rest.
On Tour With Elton John This Summer & Fall

Living in a small town in Croatia, 24-year-old music students, Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser, are living a dream come true – and quickly! After posting a self-made music video of them performing Michael Jackson's “Smooth Criminal” on their cellos, the longtime friends received more attention than they ever expected.

Within days, the video became a viral sensation and received millions of views. It got the attention of Sony Masterworks who signed them to a record deal. Concurrently, they received a phone call from legend Elton John who invited them to join him on his European tour this Summer and Fall. They recently made their U.S. TV debut on The Ellen DeGeneres Show where they performed “Smooth Criminal.”

“I feel so blessed that all of this is happening – a record deal with Sony Masterworks and a tour with Elton John – who would have imagined?!” relays Stjepan Hauser.

Their debut album will be released on July 19 and will feature Sulic & Hauser’s unique spin on hits by Guns N’ Roses, U2, Coldplay and Kings of Leon among others.

“We grew up with Michael Jackson, U2 and Nirvana. The melody and structure of their songs really inspired us to arrange them for 2 cellos. Bands like Coldplay, Kings of Leon and Muse also write songs with those similar melodic qualities – so we had a great time digging in and making them part of this album too,” says Luka Sulic.

The duo just released a second single and music video to Guns N’ Roses classic “Welcome To The Jungle” and like their first video, it is spreading quickly, getting over 1 million views in the first week!

Of the new single Hauser says: “Covering ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ was a real challenge but that one we were up for! We chose this song because we thought that it could sound like a whole symphony using only our 2 cellos. We’re really proud of it and think it rocks!”

2CELLOS also decided to record another Michael Jackson song – “Human Nature.”

“Even though we had already recorded ‘Smooth Criminal’ we wanted to also include ‘Human Nature’ because it is one of the most beautiful songs by Michael Jackson. It also allowed us to incorporate the use of pizzicato, which is my favorite technique,” says Hauser.

Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser have been playing the cello since childhood. Both recently completed their studies – Luka at the acclaimed Royal Academy of Music in London, Stjepan at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. Luka has performed throughout the world at renowned venues such as London’s Wigmore Hall, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, Vienna’s Musikverein and Konzerthaus. He has won a series of international prizes including first prize at the 2009 VII Lutoslawski International Cello Competition in Warsaw. Stjepan has performed in numerous European countries, South Africa, New Zealand, Asia and the U.S., with debuts in London’s Wigmore Hall, Royal Albert Hall, South Bank Centre and Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw. He was the last pupil of Mstislav Rostropovich. In his short career, Stjepan's accolades include winning twenty-one first prizes in national and international competitions and performing twice for Prince Charles in Buckingham and St. James's Palaces.

Film shooting in New York in July/August 2011
New York, NY -- July 12, 2011 -- Jackie Kelman Bisbee and Lance Acord, partners in Park Pictures, announced today they have formed a narrative feature company, Park Pictures Features with independent film darling Galt Niederhoffer and award-winning producer Sam Bisbee.

Park Pictures Features' first project will be the family comedy,"Robot & Frank," starring Frank Langella, Susan Sarandon, James Marsden, Liv Tyler, Jeremy Strong and Liev Schreiber, as the voice of the Robot.

Written by Christopher Ford, the film marks the feature film directorial debut of Park Pictures' director Jake Schreier. The film is currently shooting in New York. Niederhoffer, Bisbee, Kelman Bisbee and Acord are producing the film. The film is executive produced by White Hat/TBB. Matt Lloyd is the Director of Photography.

Park Features' next projects are the directorial debut of Lance Acord, and a new project from British director, Ringan Ledwidge. The company will also produce the adaptations of Sam Lipsyte's best-selling novel, "The Ask," to be directed by Steven Shainberg, and the venerable late David Foster Wallace's short story, "Little Expressionless Animals."

Set in the future, "Robot & Frank" follows aging curmudgeon, Frank (Langella), a confused loner with a love for books. His one friend is the librarian Jennifer (Sarandon) that he regularly visits. Other than his library outings, and weekly visits from his son, Frank lives a quiet, lonely life, until his grown-up kids (Marsden, Tyler) install a caretaker robot to care for their dad and an unlikely friendship begins.

Jackie Kelman Bisbee, Partner of Park Pictures and Park Pictures Features, stated "At Park Pictures we have had the opportunity to work closely with many talented directors in the commercial arena and it is a natural evolution for our company to grow and to work in the feature film arena as well. 'Robot & Frank' is a beautiful story that's both touching, and at times very funny. We are enjoying the process of bringing this film to reality."

"Park is a company comprised of filmmakers, so as we grow and evolve it only makes sense to develop and produce their feature projects.

Being a commercial production company, we have a unique opportunity to utilize our resources within the industry to economically and efficiently make long form films. Having Galt on board has been great. Her knowledge and expertise is such an amazing asset." added Park Pictures and Park Pictures Features Partner Lance Acord, "I have been excited to see "Robot and Frank" go into production. Jake and C.D. Ford have been working on this for quite some time now and I must admit it has been a bit surreal to sit on set and see the film actually take shape. Jake is a very talented guy. His confidence on
set and insights into working with actors far exceeds that of a "first time director". I think his years of experience as a commercial and music video director have served him well.

Galt Niederhoffer, Park Pictures Features Partner as well as a Writer/Director/Producer stated, "I am honored and thrilled to join the Park family. Lance, Jackie and Sam have achieved that rare thing in this business, combining brilliant work with wonderful people."

Sam Bisbee, Park Pictures Features Partner and Producer added, "Galt and I are thrilled to be working with Jake Schreier and this stellar cast to bring Park Pictures Features first of many films to life."

Park Pictures plans for two movies in the first year, the first being "Robot & Frank." The company will draw on the client list of their top directing talent (which includes Acord, Schreier, Niederhoffer, Ellen Kuras, Joachim Back, Gary Freedman, Steven Shainberg, 300ml and Alison Maclean) as well as local NYC directors to make films with strong visual, narrative, and commercial appeal.

Kelman and Acord's Park Pictures is one of the city's most prestigious commercial production houses in the business, having won numerous Clios, AICP awards, and Cannes Lions and working regularly with blue chip corporations including Nike, Target, and Coca-Cola. Acord, who directed the beloved and widely seen "The Force" Super Bowl spot for Volkswagen, was the Director of Photography for "Lost In Translation," "Where the Wild Things Are," and "Being John Malkovich."

A writer/director/producer, Niederhoffer brings fifteen years of experience in film, having brought eight films to Sundance, with seven of the films winning awards at the festival including Best Director, Best Cinematographer, the Audience Award, and Best Screenplay. Bisbee produced the Academy Award-winning live action short film "The New Tenants" in 2010 and has four screenplays in development.

Lance Acord -- Park Picture LLC Founder/Partner, Park Pictures Features Partner. After graduating from the San Francisco Art Institute, Lance began his career assisting the photographer Bruce Weber and quickly became one of the industry's most sought after cinematographers. After founding Park Pictures LLC with partner Jackie Kelman Bisbee, Lance seamlessly transitioned into directing, working with clients including Nike and Microsoft. Lance has won Gold Lions for his work on Nike's "before," Adidas' "Impossible: Laila Ali," "The Long Run," "Wakeup Call", and most recently "The Force". He was nominated as Best Commercial Director by the DGA in 2003. Lance's feature Director of Photography credits include Sofia Coppola's "Lost in Translation" (BAFTA nomination for Best Cinematography) and "Marie Antoinette," Vincent Gallo's "Buffalo 66," and Spike Jonze's "Being John Malkovich," and "Where the Wild Things Are."

Jackie Kelman Bisbee -- Park Pictures LLC Founder/Partner, Park Pictures Features Partner
Jackie Kelman Bisbee is a graduate of New York University's Stern School of Business. Jackie started her career as a licensing agent for fashion designers and in 1998, she teamed up with acclaimed cinematographer Lance Acord to form New York based production company Park Pictures. Since 1998, Park has built a substantial roster of directors and has created numerous national and international television commercials for clients including Nike, Target, Audi, Acura, Adidas, Volvo, Coca-Cola, and NHL, garnering acclaim and recognition with awards including Clios, AICP Awards and Cannes Lions.

In 2009 Jackie and Park Pictures backed filmmaker Joachim Back's short film "The New Tenants," which went on to win the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film in 2010.

Galt Niederhoffer -- Park Pictures Features Partner, Writer/Director/Producer
Ms. Niederhoffer is an acclaimed film producer with 21 produced feature films to her credit. While this would be represent a stunning lifetime body-of-work for most producers, Galt has achieved all of this at a surprisingly young age and is moving full steam ahead with two films currently in production. "Variety" has featured Galt as a Rising Producer and Entertainment Weekly includes her on its Indie Power List.

Eight of her films have shown in competition at the Sundance Film Festival, and seven of them have won awards at Sundance, a record for a producer, and a reflection of the quality of her work. Ms. Niederhoffer is the author of two novels, published St Martin's Press. Her third will be published in fall 2012.

Sam Bisbee -- Park Pictures Features Partner, Producer "The New Tenants", Sam's film debut as a Producer, won the Academy Award in 2010 for Best Live Action Short. He executive produced and co-wrote the screenplay and songs for the slasher musical "Don't Go In the Woods", directed by Vincent D'onofrio. As a screenwriter, Sam has four films co-written with his writing partner Joe Vinciguerra including an adaptation of an Eric Bogosian novel "Mall," two other projects to be directed by Vincent D'onofrio, and a script in development with acclaimed cinematographer Lance Acord. As a singer/songwriter/composer and record producer, he has recorded and released 5 critically acclaimed albums on 4 record labels, and performs regularly in New York City. Sam is also signed to a
publishing deal by "Nettwerk". Sam's songs have been featured on numerous television shows: "Damages", "Private Practice", and "Life Unexpected" to name a few. Sam has composed the score for 4 feature length films and numerous shorts, as well as the music for over 20 commercials, including his remake of "Hanging on the Telephone" for AT&T, which featured Cat Power.
Wild - New TonigntNew MAN VS. WILD Takes On New Zealand's Rugged South Island
* Episode Sneak Peeks *

-- Premiering on Discovery Channel Monday, July 18 at 9PM ET/PT --

Flinging himself out of an Air Force plane and parachuting to safety is the only way Bear Grylls can land in a remote area of New Zealand's South Island. There, he must cross the country's highest mountain
range, the 300,000 foot Southern Alps, to reach his final destination on the West Coast. An error of judgment lands him in a complex series of waterfalls, where he formulates an ingenious plan to bridge a
steep, walled ravine. In a forest saturated by more than 30 feet of rain every year, Bear's struggle to keep warm and dry for the night is relieved when he manages to start a fire in the waterlogged forest and
spots an animal to hunt in the undergrowth. Around every bend, Bear faces a new challenge in the country where the only predictable thing is the terrain's unpredictability.

PLUS, DON'T MISS!...
In case you didn't catch the premiere with Jake Gyllenhaal, that episode will repeat! You can catch it

My question: Is this controversial? Do you think Newsweek should have published this?

The article in the magazine about Diana goes on a two-page hypothetical journey about what her life would have been like if the car crash never happened. Tina Brown imagines how Diana would even interact with Kate Middleton. She says it would have been difficult at first but she would have probably been "BFF" with Carole Middleton, Kate's mother. Yet, she offers this little gem, "Her edge over Kate, of course, was her own epic of princessly suffering, which would always make Diana’s story more interesting. (“Happily ever after” will never have the same allure to the press as “It all went horribly wrong.”)."

Brown is no fortune teller. I find it hard to believe that Diana and Kate wouldn't bond over mutual distrust of the paparazzi. They both contribute extensively to charities. Kate and William asked that in lieu of wedding gifts, they created a Wedding Charity Fund that ultimately raised over a million pounds.

Floating on the wave of Diana's fame comes news of a book called Untold Story: A Novel by Monica Ali. It explores a world where she never died, instead, she faked her own death by drowning. User reviews put it on the fence but I'm curious enough to wonder how a famous princess can get accustomed to living in a rural Pennsylvania town called Kensington.
My favorite beautiful, blonde hunk of eye candy, James Bond himself, Daniel Craig is married. Ughhhhhhhhh. Possible reasons?

A. He actually really loves Rachel Weisz (The Lovely Bones, The Constant Gardener) and really does want to make her happy. (Psht, yea right. I will *NEVER* believe this. ;( )
B. She's pregnant!

Just think about it. They've only been seen together for the past few months. They recently shot a movie together; the super long hours on set, the months spent preparing and anticipating the role and ultimately having to portray a convincing married couple. The passion of it all! The chemistry!

It took 4 years for Darren Aronofsky to propose when he did in 2005 and less than a year later, her son Henry was born. I'm sensing a pattern here.
New York, NY (April 12, 2011) -- The year's biggest pop culture and Internet sensations -- from Angry Birds, Groupon, the Old Spice Guy,and Justin Bieber to Arcade Fire, The Bed Intruder Song, SoundCloud, and Flipboard -- are among the nominees announced today for The 15th Annual Webby Awards.

The high-caliber and diverse scope of the nominees reflects how the Internet has become the driving force shaping everything from entertainment to business. Now in its 15th year, The Webby Awards is the world's leading honors recognizing achievement in Websites, online film and video, mobile web, and interactive advertising.

In addition to Academy judges like Martha Stewart, Twitter co-founder Biz Stone, and Arianna Huffington selecting Webby Awards winners, starting today millions of people around the world will also help decide who takes home a Webby by voting in The Webby People's Voice Awards presented by Aol. The public has until April 28th to vote at http://webby.aol.com.

Winners will be announced on May 3rd and honored at a star-studded ceremony in New York City on June 13th, where they will deliver five-word speeches in the tradition of past victors like Al Gore ("Please don't recount this vote.") and Jimmy Fallon ("Thank God Conan got promoted"). The ceremony will be broadcast live online; viewers at home will have not just a front row seat, but the ability to participate and shape the show as it unfolds.

Many of this year's nominees represent the sweeping impact of mobile and tablet devices on both culture and commerce, from gaming (Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja) to social networking (foursquare and Flipboard)to entertainment (SoundCloud) and community (Twitter).
