American Idol Got My Vote

I know I voted once before on Idol but never for the overall winner. It was so long ago that I don't even remember who it was for. Oh blahh...anyway, tonight..I just had to vote.

Mostly I voted because I felt that David Archuleta is a shoe in based on Simon's feedback after all three songs. I think Archie is great but he was never my pick for the WIN. I thought he was in the zone tonight and both guys were awesome.

The reason I voted tonight is because if Archuleta wins over DC, I couldn't be upset about it unless I actually voted.

Kind of like how I feel people who didn't vote in the last presidential election have no right bitching about how much they hate our president, You had opportunity to make a difference, as little as it would be, but you chose not to.

I have Barry Manilow's "One Voice" playing in my head right now along with the Star Spangle Banner.
.

Ok, I digress.

Congratulations David, whichever one of you win. I would love it to be my David.

American Idol Top 4

David Archeleta sang Stand By Me and Love Me Tender.
Love Me Tender was very sweet and he sounds like a seasoned pro.

David Castro sang I Shot The Sheriff and Mr. Mr. Tambourine Man.
I liked the vibe on I Shot The Sheriff and he forgot the words on Mr. Tambourine Man. WTF dude?

Syesha sang Proud Mary and I See A Change Coming On.
Proud Mary wasn’t great for me but I kept comparing it to Tina and Beyonce’
As for ISACCO, it was just ok and I couldn’t wait for it to end.

David Cook sang Hungry Like The Wolf and Bubba O’Reily.
On Hungry (I was never a Duran Duran fan so don’t take my word for it), it was just ok and well boring but that was what I thought of the original too.
As for Bubba, well it was friggin awesome. Hello!!! I loved it!

American Idol does Neil Diamond and Sucks - and Oh Yeah Brooke White leaves sobbing

God, when are they going to let the idols just do something cool?

Like, let's hear, Syesha do some Missy, Get Ur Freak On.

How about David Cook singing some Creed. You know he wants to.

David Archeleta could do some Beyonce, or wouldn't it be funny to hear him sing Your body is a Wonderland by John Meyer? He would be so embaressed.

Bored, bored, bored.

Anyway...

Paula's flub, big friggin deal. I know everyone and their brother is talking about it. She sounded crazy but really whatever, why are we surprised? She was confused and it is a live show, people make mistakes, let's move on.

Brooke White was eliminated

How long was her little montage? Looooonnnnggg right?

Waahhhhh I was crying too at the end of this. Poor wee, little Brooke.

American Idol Recap - Top 6 Perform Musical Numbers

Tonight, AI's top 6 are mentored by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Syesha Mercado sings "One Rock and Roll Too Many." I thought she did a pretty good job and we all agree she could have a career on Broadway. I loved the band interaction and so did the judges.

Jason Castro sang Memory from Cats. He looked as adorable as can be, but it was a bit torturous. He looked uncomfortable singing it and it was uncomfortable to listen to.

Brooke White sang You Must Love Me from one of my favorite musicals Evita. She had a rough beginning where she forgot the last word in the first sentence and started again. That error made her very uncomfortable though out the song. She shows vulnerability but was it because she gets the song or because she fucked up the beginning?

David Archuleta sang some song that I never heard of called Think of Me. It was just ok for me. Randy and Paula loved it though.

Carly Smithson sang Jesus Christ Superstar. She had wanted to sing All I Ask of You from my one of my other favorite musicals Les Miserables' and I would really have liked to hear that but Andy Weber talked her out of it. Oh well! She did an amazing job and her outfit rocked.

David Cook sang Music of The Night of Phantom. God damn I love the music of Phantom. Even the movie was good. Ahhh...David was awesome and I do believe that he has sold a bunch of teenage girls on Phantom. Don't be surprised if there is a surge on Phantom soundtracks this week.

In Case You Live In A Cave American Idol Fans Sent Kristy Home Last Night

Performances from April 15th in the order I liked them. They did Mariah Carey songs which for me was torture. I have a total Mariah aversion. Just not my type of music.

The best being of course, David Cook

Jason Castro and his beautiful self sang I don't want to cry and did a beautiful job.

David was awesome too and he will probably win this competition. He is not my favorite but I know the teeny boppers who vote, adore him.

Carly Smithson sang one of my favorite songs.

Syesha sang something called Vanishing

Kristy Lee sang Forever

Brooke White was probably my least favorite with Hero.

American Idol - 2008 - Top 8 sing Inspirational Songs

Michael John sings Dream On by Aerosmith. Probably one of my favorite Aerosmith songs. It was a bit rough in the beginning for me but he found it in the chorus. It was plain old Michael good, with no twist. Straight Aerosmith copy. It was ok.

Randy - So, I really believe this is an important weeks. I want to see who can win. It was a good song choice. It had some pitch problems. It was alright.

Paula - (omg what is up with her dress) I think it was a perfect song for you to pick. You sound as good as you look.

Simon - I thought it was a very good performance. I am slightly with Randy on this. I don't like when you do an impersonation of a rock star. I thought it was wannabeish.

Syesha Mercado - Sang I Believe by Fantasia. Really good song and a good choice for her. She sounds great and I think it was probably her best performance for me. I could have done without the ending but it was ok. Fantasia just did something to that song though.

Randy - That is a tiger of a song. She has a special connection that I didn't find with you but it was ok.

Paula - Not many people can take on songs like that. You made it your own. Hands down one of your most shining nights.

Simon - Technically you sang it very well however, it lacked that big wave of emotion. I want to find out who you are all about. You did sing it very well.

Jason Castro sang Somewhere Over the Rainbow. I just think he has such a good soul. He is so sweet and that just comes across whenever he is on stage. It was sweet and sincere.

Randy - Jason is back. It was the hottest. It was blazing.

Paula - You have the most definitive sound. It was the perfect song. I love that version of the song.

Simon - The first time I heard it, I wasn't sure. Second time, ok. Third time Fantastic.

This is the song that Simon spoke about by Israel.

Kristy Lee Cook sang Anyway by Martina McBride. She looked incredible and did a fantastic job. This was obviously the best song choice for her. Best performance so far.

Randy - There were a couple of pitch moments but really good.

Paula - I think we should leave the pitch moments. Kristy Lee Cook, you out did yourself. Your best so far. It's so easy singing songs that inspire you. Excellent.

Simon - Randy made a point with a choice this broad you can chose who you are as an artist. I thought you were very good indeed. Tonight, you look like a star. I love that. Smart. You are appealing to your audience. Good on you!

David Cook sang Innocent. I do not know this song but he of course did awesome. He is the real deal and has massive talent. Love him.

Randy - Yo baby. Check it out. I am a huge fan. Every week you throw it down. NOt your strongest week. It feel short for me.

Paula - You are so well defind. The whole package. I believe in you.

Simon - I didn't like this performance at all. I thought it was a tinsy weensy bit pompus. I didn't like the white jacket. Anyway near the last two weeks.

Carly Smithson sang The Show Must Go On by Queen. She is super hot and sounded great. I felt like I was watching a Carly concert. She is just flawless, strong and confident. Love her.

Randy - Ok. It started out good. Middle was pitchy at the high parts. It was ok. Disconnected.

Paula - There is something I am going to agree with. Your voice is totally pretty perfect. I didn't feel engaged with you. Your voice was amazing.

Simon - You look good. I thought it was an unusual choice of songs. You over sang it. It was an angry performance. I think again, you have chosen the wrong song.

David Archuleta sang Angels by Robbie Williams. It was just ok for me. It was too slow and soft. Not that it is bad just give me that feeling I get from the original. It is such a beautiful song.

Randy - Check this out. You know what I love about this performance. I love those runs. That was your hottest all season. Love it. Crazy hot.

Paula - That sums it up for me. Fantastic.

Simon - Best song choice so far. The best pop songs. I thought it was a bit nasally. I thought the end was better than the beginning. You are going to sail through to the next round.

Here's the original

Brooke White sang You've Got A Friend. This is a really good choice for Brooke. Before she even started I could hear her singing it. I hated her hair and her dress but she did a great job on the vocals. Was it something that the young kids voting will like? Probably not.

Randy - I liked that. For me, I don't think it was your best. It was ok.

Paula - That song, I grew up to. My sister played it over and over again. I think it was the perfect way to close the evening. I love you.

Simon - It was like a pleasant walk in the park. It was nice. Was it original? No. Was it pleasant? Yes. Thank you.

My bottom three: ( wow this is hard)
Michael John, Brooke White, David Cook (2 of my faves are in this based on tonight's performance)

Best of the night for me: Jason Castro

American Idol - Top 9 - Hello Dolly

The idols were mentored by the legendary and beloved Dolly Parton this week.

Brooke White - Sang Jolene - About Dolly she said, "she's a tiny girl but she is huge" Bwaaahhh come on that is funny. I thought she would do this song. I really love this song off of the first Dolly album I ever owned "The Best of Dolly Parton. I loved this album and over played at my house when I was younger. I thought she did ok. It was a good choice of song but I didn't get any feeling from it.

Randy - There was some pitch problems but it was alright.

Paula - You are consistent. You have an emotional connection to each song you pick. You are Brooke White, excellent and wonderful. Ummm ok.

Simon - Actually I totally disagree with Paula. You were busting through the song. I thought all of you looked very odd together. It wasn't one of your best performances.

Dave Cook - sang Little Sparrow which Dolly said was one of your favorite songs. I don't believe I even know this song. He did his own arrangement and well, it sounded pretty good to me. I liked the Sting vibe when the drums came in. It was really pretty. I thought he did really well.

Randy - You know what, I love that you show you have an unbelievable range. ANother hot perforamnce.

Paula - I liked your hair cut. I can see your face. I never heard a guy do that song. It was fantastic. Going into your false, and strong, it shows how well runded you are.

Simon - If you can make a song about sparrows good and you did. Congratulations.

Ramiele - Sang Do I Ever Cross Your Mind - I don't think she will be in the top 4. I just don't see the talent that everyone else is showing. She sounded really unsure and timid. Where is that big ole voice everyone fell in love with?

Randy - So, I wasn't jumping up and down. It was alright. You showed some strength. It was good.

Paula - I am proud of you. I think you had a great minute and 30 seconds. You were having fun.

Simon - We are not going to remember this in 10 years. I thought it was forgettable. Something you would see on a cruise ship.

Jason Castro sang Traveling Through. I am so hot for this kid. He is so damn cute. I liked it. I like him and think he is so damn mellow and adorable. Can't we all see Jason just sitting with a yellow flower in his hair, on some grass with a poncho, singing with his guitar? Hot baby.

Randy - I thought it started rough. I thought it was kinda cool. I started believing it. You worked it out.

Paula - This was one of your stronger performances. You were confident. It was great, I loved it.

Simon - I didn't like that at all. It was like the same song from before. If this was the first time I had heard you, I wouldn't get it.

Let's all not forget that Simon doesn't love country music.

Carly Smithson sang Here You Come Again and she sounded awesome. Just friggin awesome. I liked it so much and I think she gave it a whole new life. It sounded updated and fresh. I liked the slow pace and her beautiful, flawless voice with the guitar was so pretty.

Randy - I do believe that will probably be one of the better perforamnces of the night.

Paula - That was glorius. That voice of yours...you look great. Oh my God.

Simon - I thought it was good, I didn't think it was great. It is one of those nights. I think you have to have a word with whoever is dressing you. You have to start looking more like a star. I don't see that progression at the moment.

David Archuleta sang Smoky Mountain Memories and Dolly had to keep herself from crying. I love this song, it is a really beautiful song and David did it great justice. I thought he did really well.

Randy - That was the best performance of the night.

Paula - Amazing tone and aura.

Simon - This week absolutely on the money.

Kristy Lee Cook sang Coat of Many Colors which has a really special place in my heart because it is the song I sing to my babies. I sang it every night while I nursed and it never fails to make me cry all the time. I thought she did a fabulous job. I really wanted it to be sweeter and softer but it was good. But what was up with the hair?

Randy - Country music is your wheel house.

Paula - You look stunning. You look beautiful. It was a beautiful performance. It was your best.

Simon - I totally disagree. I thought this was pleasant and forgettable.

Syesha sang I will ALways Love You a really difficult song especially since she will be compared to Dolly and Whitney. Good luck girlie. t started out pretty rough but she took it really slow and beautiful and built it up for the finale. Which was pretty damn good.

Randy - You took on the biggest tigger of the night. It was alright.

Paula - Your voice. When you are in that velvet tone, that is it for you. You are connecting with the audience and I love it.

Simon - This is one of the best pop songs ever written. The second part paled in comparison to Whitney.

Michael John sang It's All Wrong But It's All Right. Dolly fell under his spell too. Damn baby boy, you are hot with that scarf and dark clothes. Hot. I don't really care what the hell he sings. I love him. I loved the whole bluesy feel and his face when he sings makes me grrr...yeah baby.

Randy - You keep on bringing it up every week. Blazing hot.

Paula - You are a star. A rock star. A blues star.

Simon - I have to say something to you. I think this is the best I have heard you.

This is really hard because everyone really is good at this point so it was hard to chose (for me) anyone other than Ramiele.

Bottom 3 - Ramiele, Brooke, Jason
Top - Michael John
Going Home - Ramiele

American Idol - Top 10

Tonight Idol is doing songs from the year the contestants were born.

The kiddies needed to be held tonight so I was unable to type the judges comments on the first 2 contestants.

Ramiele - Alone - I was very eager to hear her attempt a Heart song. She suffered a little vocally on the high parts but then we hear that she is fighting a cold or her voice went "bye-bye"

Jason Castro - Fragile - It was good for me but I love Jason. I love his easy nature and his sexy eyes. The Spanish thing was good too.

Syesha Mercado - If I were your women - It was good. I like Syesha but she is just flying under the radar for me.

Randy - Loved it.

Paula - This is the one that everyone will remember

Simon - The best so far. I don't think the end was as good as Randy thought.

Chikeze - If Only For One Night - He did ok. I think Chikeze can sing but I don't think he can win. I like Chikeze he has an adorable, likable personality but can he shine brighter than some others? I don't know.

Randy - This was old school. I didn't love it. It wasn't hip and cool. There was no energy.

Paula - You are a throw back. A good throw back. I think you did a great job with the textures of your vocals.

Simon - I think you sang it well. I thought the performance was cheesy. I miss your personality.

Brooke White - Every Breath You Take - I would go see Brooke sing. I really think she is good. She is pure, unique and talented. I don't know that she can WIN this competition because while I dig her there are stronger singers. After saying that, I think she has mega talent.

Randy - Great song. I thought the front part was good. When you got to the bridge I didn't like the arrangement. I was alright.

Paula - I enjoyed this so much more than last week. You are unique and have your own niche. One note I know it's Brooke.

Simon - I totally agree with Randy. If you had stayed without the band, just you on piano it was very old fashion. Good enough to keep you in another week. The first half, even with the mistake it was fantastic.

Michael Johns - We Are the Champions - Loved his personal video wearing a skully cap he looked Hoooootttttttt! I tried not to watch him perform so as not to be swayed by his looks. Even without looking he sounds awesome so there! I thought he did really well but that is just me. It seemed like we were watching someone perform at the Grammys not watching a talent contest. Good sign: Paula is standing.

Randy - Check it out. Finally you believe in yourself. You used that big old voice. That is the best performance for me since you have been on this show.

Paula - This was your shining moment. I am so proud of you.

Simon - This is the first time with you that I saw Star Potential. Tonight you just got it right. You looked like a front person. It was the only memorable performance of the night so far.

Carly Smithson - Total Eclipse of the Heart - I can't wait to hear her sing this. I love Carly's big curly, blonde fro in her baby pictures. Love it! Ahhh Carly gave me chills. I love this song. I want her to just belt it out. There were a few times that I thought she held off a bit on the vocals. I wanted louder and stronger but it was still good.

Randy - Yo. Yo. Interesting song choice. I didn't love it, I liked it. I was just ok. The run at the end wasn't in tune.

Paula - I so admire that you can take any song and make me a believer. The end showed me that you can go and stretch yourself.

Simon - Something didn't work. You were so tense and almost uptight. I didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to. I think you have to lighten up.

David Archuleta - You're the Voice - I don't even know this song. It was ok but it sounded like a was at a high school talent night. It really was just ok. Maybe it was because I don't know it but I will forget this performance before the next hour.

Randy - It was a strange song choice but you can sing or whatever. It was very nice.

Paula - I think all of us were trying to figure out the song. You could sing the phone book.

Simon - I actually didn't like it at all. It was reminiscent of a theme park performance. It was one of those ghastly songs when you have animated creatures and everyone joins in together. I would be amazed if you chose the song yourself because it is not you.

Kristy Lee Cook - God Bless the U.S.A. - This is a song that I absolutely love but only by Lee Greenwood. Maybe Kristy will do well who knows. I love the new longer extensions and I thought she did a good job with this song. I just wish she had a stronger voice. I would love to hear more power.

Randy - Great song choice. Some pitch problems but a very nice performance. Good choice.

Paula - Good choice. Your voice was much stronger. You're growing.

Simon - Your best performance by a mile. That was the most clever song choice that I have heard in years. I thought it was a good performance and that is going to keep you in the competition.

David Cook - Billie Jean - I am excited to hear this. It was like the version Nickelback would do if they sang Billie Jean. Ummm...I love David Cook and I am not sure if I love this version. It may be a little self indulgent for Simon but as he moves into the middle of the song I am actually loving it. Wow, this could play on the radio now and kids would love it. Can you change a song any more than he has this one? If you didn't know the words to Billie Jean you would never guess this was it.

Randy - Check it out. I think you are the most original, bold we have ever had. You might be the one to win the whole lot.

Paula - I can't sit down because I have to tell you how bold you are. I think you are brilliant.

Simon - That was great. It could have been insane or amazing. I have to tell you that was amazing.

The Best for Me Tonight - Michael John
Bottom 3 - Jason, Chikeze, Carly
Honorable Mention - David Cook
Going Home Pick - Chikeze

American Idol Top 11

Last week was Lennon and McCarthy and tonight we are going to hear the Beatles.

Amanda Overmeyer sang "Back in the U.S.S.R." and of course sounds like she has been doing this all her life. I LOOOOVE Amanda. She just kicks ass and I love everything she sings.

Randy - Paula and I were sitting her saying this is the perfect song choice for you. You felt the energy of the crowd and picked it up in the middle. It was good.

Paula - It was a little sketchy at first. You were off with the timing.

Simon - It was what it was. I was predictable. It was a bit of a mess. It's the same thing, week after week. Do something that is a bit of a surprise. You are in danger of becoming a bit boring.

Kristy Lee Cook sang "You've Got to Hid your Love Away" and I actually loved her voice on this. I felt like I was at church for a moment. It was good until she got to the chorus for me so I am not sure what happens there. She has a very calm voice and I give her a 7 on this.

Randy - It was an interesting arrangement. The whole song should have been more emotional for you.

Paula - The is the best you have ever looked. You look gorgeous. IT was safe. It was good.

Simon - I think you need hypnosis. The problem is that you are not a good performer. It's like musical wallpaper. You notice it but you can't remember it. You are making no impact.

David Archuleta sang "The Long and Winding Road" and did a wonderful job. I adore his voice. He's cute and can sing beautifully while remaining vulnerable.

Randy - Check it out. You brought the hotness back to your game. That is the kind of song baby. Very nice.

Paula - For me this was the most exciting performance. The purity. You are wonderful.

Simon - Ok, David last week was a complete mess. This week I thought you were amazing. Absolutely. You made my point that you sell a song and b that you remember the performance. Master Class.

Michael Johns sang "A Day In The Life" seriously, does it even matter what Michael sings? I don't care if he sang a Doodlebop Song. Yeah baby. Sexy. Sing to me Michael. Grrrr.

Randy - You know what? You know what's cool. It wasn't one of your best. I still don't think you have chosen the right one. You of anybody can sing but you haven't found the one to do that.

Paula - You were incredible in rehearsal. You lose a connection with the audience because you are worried about how you hear yourself.

Simon - It was a mess. You didn't hit the right notes. It's a very complicated song and it doesn't work as a minute and a half song. You have got to nail the song like David did before you.

Brooke White sang "Here Comes The Sun" I really love this song. It reminds me of my youth. I grew up with this song playing on the radio. I really didn't love her voice on this song. I thought she tried too hard and I think her voice didn't suit the song.

Randy - That performance was awkward for me. You made a great point right there. You were never really connected to that song. It was not hot.

Paula - You can't help but smile when you watch you. I love the yellow for the sun. You have really good low notes. I think it could have been more challenging. You are a lovable girl.

Simon - I just knew that you would be dressed in yellow and the lights would be yellow. I thought the performance was terrible. From the horrible dancing. It was wet. It was forgettable.

David Cook sang "DayTripper" and man I love him more and more every week. He sounds like he sings this every day. He made the song his own and seemed very comfortable with it. What else can I say? He rocks. He threw the voice box in too.

Randy - Yo. Mr. Cook. I love seeing you every week. It was another song at a David Cook concert. It was another solid look for David Cook.

Paula - There is really not much else anyone else can say. You are ready to go sell records. You did the voice box in a cool way. Commercials are next.

Simon - I don't think that was as good as you thought it was. You lost your element of surprise. A bit predictable. I didn't like that version.

Carly Smithson sang "Blackbird" and she obviously did an amazing job. I don't think it matters what Carly sings. She will always do it well, professional, and perfect. I love the ending. It wasn't my favorite but it was good.

Randy - Another great performnce. Very emoted. Very controlled.

Paula - You have an amazing tone to your voice. The inflictions. The arrangement was beautiful.

Simon - So, Beatles song week two and you chose a song about a Blackbird. It was indulgent. Now you have made me feel uncomfortable because I feel like you are all broken birds.

Jason Castro sang "Michelle" ahhh..he is cute but I will have to close my eyes to hear him really sing. He did just ok for me. I swear this kid looks like Travolta to me. It was ok. Not his best.

Randy - Good choice. I love the song. Little interesting for me, for you. I don't know if I really got it. I don't know if you connected with me.

Paula - You have a distinct charm about you. I feel like you get a little disconnected when you are away from your guitar. It was alike a polka. It was awkward.

Simon - This is a very weird show tonight. I am not sure it was a good idea to do the Beatles again. Where you are lucky is that this a TV show and not a radio show because your face saved that. You are very charming. You are not obnoxious. Your goofiness makes it work.

Syesha Mercardo sang "Yesterday" and did a really good job. I liked the way she sang it. A guitar and nice and slow really worked for me. Best for Syesha so far.

Randy - Very good performance tonight.

Paula - It is great to see how you let yourself be very vulnerable. Connect with your eyes. Connect with the audience.

Simon - I thought that was your best performance so far. It wasn't incredible. You chose the best song. The song Brooke should have sung. I thought you sung the song very, very well. That song should keep you in the competition.

Chikeze sang "I've Just Seen Her Face" which he did a great job on. I would totally listen to this on the radio now. This might be the best for me tonight. Chikeze played the harmonica for the first time and well, it was ok. A little weird because it went from an R& B sound to a country song. Interesting.

Randy - So, there were some good and bad parts for me. I didn't get the slow part. The harmonica was weird. It could be a good country song. It was strange.

Paula - You are showing who you are. It was so pure on the ballad and then you show a whole different side in the scope of 1 minute.

Simon - I thought it started out ok and then you played the harmonica. Then it turned into achy breaky heart at the end.

Ramiele Malubay sang "I Should Have Known Better" it started out a bit weak. I didn't think there was anything really great about it. She was very mechanical.

Randy - I wasn't jumping up and down. You showed the confidence that is in there. It was happy go lucky. It was alright.

Paula - Better than last week. There is something about your voice when you sing ballads.

Simon - It sounded like Chikeze was on the harmonica. I like you. You have a fantastic personality. It sounded very amateurish. You chose very mediocre songs. It is what it is.

The best for me tonight: David Archuleta
Hottest: Michael John (Just have to put that in there because he was just on my TV screen)
The bottom 2 are: Kristy Lee Cook, Ramiele Malubay

American Idol Elimination - David Hernandez

I have to admit I am a little surprised.

Yesterday I was certain it would be Kristy Lee Cook or Syesha Mercado. Thinking David had another week at least.

Oh well, what do I know?

Kristy, Syesha and David were in the bottom three and all sang their respective songs.

Syesha was told that she was safe, leaving Kristy and David in the bottom.

Surprise...
Bye David, I thought you had another week or two.

BTW...for some reason American Idol is doing Lennon/McCarthy again. Ok, if that is the case I want to hear:

Revolution - Chikeze
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds - David Cook
Strawberry Fields Forever - Brooke White
Imagine - Michael John
Stand By Me - Kristy Lee Cook
Just Like Starting Over - Ramiele
Live and Let Die - Amanda Obermeyer
My Love - Jason Castro

Watching The Wheels - Carly Smithson
Give Peace A Chance - David Archuleta
Magical Mystery Tour - Syesha

Here is a reminder of how good Chikeze, Amanda, and David Cook where on Tuesday.

Just because I think he is hella hot here's Michael Johns

American Idol Top 12

The set is new, the band is up above the stage, lights galore, mosh pit near the judges. Yada, Yada, Yada...

Top 12 walk out together to much fanfare, I really could care less about any of this I just want them to start singing.

The theme this week is the Beatles or more importantly McCarthy and Lennon.

Syesha Mercado sang "Got To Get You Into My Life" which started out horribly. I hated it. She jazzed it up with horns and whatnot. She looked cute in her skinny pants. She's cute and she started to find her way midway through. Let's see what the judges think.

Randy - Yo! Nice arrangement, sort of Earth, Wind and Fire. You started getting into it. A little pitchy. It was alright.

Paula - You know you are a good singer. It started off pitchy. Mid way through you found it. You look fantastic.

Simon - I thought it was better than alright. I thought it was a great choice of song. I think you looked very, very nervous. Much better than last week.

Chikezie - Sang "She's A Women" which I don't think I know. The arrangement was interesting with it's Blue Grass beginning. I loved it. He can sing and I think he showed a little bit of diversity here. I know Simon is going to think it was very manic with the dancing and arm swinging. He never did like Taylor Hicks did he? I am hoping for the best.

Randy - I was entertained. Who know? First, I loved the arrangement. Chikezie smashed it.

Paula - This is exactly, when Ryan asked me, those who take the risk..you turned it into a rock vibe. I have been waiting for this. The reward paid off my dear.

Simon - I'm really surprised that I actually agree with these two. What I loved about it other than the fact you looked drunk. You have changed within a week. You took control of the stage. I thought it was terrific.

Ahhhh Ryan telling Chik to work it was a bit much. If anyone is drunk tonight, it might be Ryan.

Ramiele Malubay sang "In My Life" which is a beautiful song. I love her sweet little voice. I wish she had sang a little louder because I had the volume down for the kids who were asleep and I couldn't hear a thing. I digress, what I did hear was a bit boring but at least she was on key. No need to over do it but damn... she did at the end and it didn't work. She lost pitch.

Randy - It was kinda pretty but it was pretty boring. It sounded like you were going to do something interesting but you didn't.

Paula - You look lovely. It was pretty safe. You are an amazing singer and your voice allows you to go many places. You are holding back.

Simon - I was bored to tears through out the entire song. It was dreary. It did nothing for you. Forgettable, boring and I expect a lot better from you because you are better than that.

Jason Castro sang "If I Fell" He is so cute to me. I have to not watch while he sings so that I can really hear the song. It was good. He has a falsetto that worked for the song. I liked it. Sort of beachy sound. I hope the judges liked it.

Randy - I liked it, I didn't love it. It is one of my favorite songs. I like you going into the false but it changed the melody..

Paula - I disagree with Randy. What is so special and unique I feel your heart. There is a special connection that makes you unique.

Simon - Jason last week you were incredible. It was a bit bedroom at midnight. I thought the song was boring. Very unique, very different. Big, big fan of Jason's.

Carly Smithson sang "Come Together" so what the hell is Amanda going to sing? I just like Carly, I thought it was good. She can sing anything. She is sexy and sounds awesome.

Randy - You know what I loved. You were strong, you were confident. You were amazing. Stellar performance.

Paula - I felt like I was already watching a star. I couldn't wait until you got into the top 12 so you can show who you are.

Simon - Week after week you have chosen the wrongh song util now. That was great. I got to tell you. I have to say something. This reminds me, Kelly Clarkson.

David Cook sings "Eleanor Rigby" I am really starting to LOVE David. I like his sound although I always feel like he is very rehearsed with his moves and his looks. He can sing and it blew me away. Powerful performance I am downloading it tomorrow. He rocked. They got to use all their new lights with this song too.

Randy - You can rock out. You can rock. You had a little problem in the beginning. You got this. Do it.

Paula - You are the dark horse. You are fantastic. I love seeing you just as a front man on this stage.

Simon - I thought it was brilliant. Two weeks now, if this show were a talent competition you could win.

Brooke White sang "Let It Be" which I think will be a great song for her. Brooke played Piano and looked stunning. She was good although I am still thinking of David's performance. I was a little bored but then again...David's performance...ok...anyway...where was I? She's likable and can pick the right songs to showcase herself.

Randy - I don't know if it was your strongest performance. I love that you take this big song and you give a very heart felt performance.

Paula - This is your niche Brooke. It is picking songs where you can have an emotional connection.

Simon - I thought it was again one of the best performances of the night. I thought it was a brilliant choice of song. It's believable. Great!

David Hernandez sang "I Saw Her Standing There" and he did it Rock N Roll Style. He worked the stage and well I am not sure that he did a great job with this song. It didn't really showcase his voice. I was a bit bored and can't wait until the next performance. Playing Webkinz now...waiting for him to finish.

Randy - You got a big voice. On a song like this that is simple. You were trying to do too much. You were lost.

Paula - David, you know I love your voice. I feel like you kind of over did it (didn't Randy just say that?)

Simon - No, no, no. corny verging on desperate. All a little bit rabbit in the head lights. It wasn't really cool. I didn't think it was a strong performance.

Amanda Overmeyer sang "You Can't Do That" which Amanda and I have never heard before. Ok, what is not to love about Amanda? She has a distinctive voice and she has a unique look. She stands out and she can bring it! I really want to hear her sing Stevie Nicks and try to do a nice, soft song with that rough voice. I hope she does some Gretchen Wilson if they do Country week this season.

Randy - I am telling you. That is the true mark of a great song. You brought the Beatles to a Southern bar and worked it. Very cool. Very cool.

Paula - You are smiling, you are having fun, you look fantastic. I am blown away.

Simon - I didn't think it was as good as last week. I understood about 30% of what you sang. It was a little shouty. Shut up Paula! I think it is a good thing that you are in this competition because you are a breath of fresh air but it was not as good as last week.

Michael Johns sang "Across the Universe" which I can't wait to hear because well...I love Michael. He is too friggin sexy and can sing like a God. He sounded very strong and confident and looked like a pro up there. Does anyone remember the first season of this show? How bad was that compared to these singers. Michael's performance was stellar as if I had paid tickets for a Michael John concert. He is just good! Let's hear from the judges.

Randy - Yo. Check it out. So, I don't know if it was your best. I was waiting for something big. It was a little sleepy.

Paula - Wow, I disagree with you again. It takes an inner strength to stand center stage and sing brilliantly. You connected. I thought it was brilliant.

Simon - I tend to agree with Randy. He is absolutely right. It was a little monotonous. It was solid, it was good. I am still a big, big fan. I am frustrated that we haven't heard what you can do.

Kristy Lee Cook sang "Eight Days A Week" Country style. She looked adorable with her ripped jeans and sparkly top. I didn't think it worked but what do I know. I thought the music was faster than she was singing. Yikes. Going back to Webkinz. Is she still singing? Damn. Noisy!

Randy - I liked the arrangement. Vocally you were trying to force some runs in it. I am torn with this one.

Paula - Um, Kristy I didn't enjoy it. I know you did like a Lorrie Morgan. I didn't get it.

Simon - I thought it was horrendous. You sounded like Dolly Parton on helium. Sorry. It was a very brave but foolish thing to do. That song doesn't work in that style.

David Archuleta sang "We Can Work It Out" I don't know. I really think David had it in the bag for this competition. It was just ok for me. This was his weakest performance for me. I didn't like the melody of the song. At one point it sounded like he had a belly ache.

Randy - You know I like your voice. It was not your vibe. It felt forced. It didn't work.

Paula - This wasn't your best. You can never let it show on your face. We love you.

Simon - That was a mess. I expect incredible. It was weak.

Based on these performances for me the bottom 2 are Syesha and Kristy Lee Cook. Going home will be Kristy.

Where Was I during AI Eliminations

I totally zoned out last night. There are no excuses because1 kids was down by 7:00 the 2nd was by 7:30 and I sat playing on Flickr thinking there was nothing on until 9:00 p.m. when Lost was coming on.

So, now that I had to research for my recap...

From what I read Blake Lewis perform his new single.

36 million votes were cast on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Girl Eliminations are:

Kady Malloy "Britney Impersonator"

Asia'h Epperson who sang in the audition just 2 days after her father died

Guy Eliminations are:

Luke Menard who sort of had the looks but lacked personality

Out of the 4 I am sad and shocked to see Asia'h go.

So without further ado your Top 12 are:
  • Amanda Overmeyer
  • Carly Smithson
  • Kristy Lee Cook

Does anyone else find Constantine greasy and slimy?

Does anyone else think Jason looks like a cross between John Travolta and Nicholas Cage?

Top 8 Guys Sing the 80's

Luke Menard sang Jitterbug. I don't know, he seems just kind of ok. There is something missing. He isn't a bad singer and he isn't ugly there is just one factor that he misses out on. He has nothing special about him

Randy - It started out rough. You got it together in the end. It was a little corny but alright.

Paula - I disagree. I was surprised you picked it. You are musical and I loved your interpretation of it.

Simon - Luke, I will make this quick. I didn't like it. It was weak. There is no chance you are going to make it through.

David Archuleta sang Paradise. I love David and always loved this song. I really liked how he updated the song. He is adorable and can sing like a pro.
Randy - It is like watching a concert. I thought it was good. It didn't show off all your vocals. It was nice.

Paula - I loved that there were a couple notes that were off because it proves that you are not a make believe person.

Simon - It wasn't as good as last week. You are getting a little gloomy with your song choices. Lighten up a little bit.

Danny Noriega sang Tainted Love which I have always hated. Danny is an ok singer but I just can't stand him. He disturbs me and he is just so strange. Check out David's Christmas message

Randy - It started out pitchy but I loved the arrangement. I like the way you did it at the end. You can did this. He is never shy in attitude but he is vocally.

Paula - I love it. You are this bright light in this competition. You are real. You have great vocals. Be true to yourself. You look fabulous. Spicy and sensitive.

Simon - I thought it was horrible. Absolutely useless. Hated the arrangement, the performance the vocals. I didn't like anything.

David Hernandez spoke about a "booger" in his nose. Gross. Sang that damn Celine Dion Coming Back To Me Now song. God damn I HATE anything Celine. It as ok. It was an odd choice for me. I don't get it. What the hell? But all and all it was ok.

Randy - Nice song choice. I thought it was really good. Some pitch problems where you get a little sharp.

Paula - You are a very good performer. I think you have some of the best vocals.

Simon - It wasn't as good as last week. You have 100% secured a place in the finals.

Michael Johns sang Don't you Forget about Me from one of my favorite 80's movies, The Breakfast Club. God damn he is back. This is the Michael I fell in love with. Yeah baby this guy rocks. Great vocals and good performer. But I have to wonder about this being a really good send off song too. I hope he didn't jinx himself. I think he sang an Inxs song in the auditions too.

Randy - It was the Aussie boy went home. You kind of remind me of Michael. I loved it.

Paula - I am so glad that you are the type of artist who defines who you are. I love the strength in your low range. You have this presence. You are all unique and different.

Simon - Michael, I liked it. I didn't love it. I still think of you as a huge talent but haven't picked the right song yet. I really like you. I think you are going to do really well.
David Cook sang my absolute favorite Lionel Richie song Hello. I love this song. After a rough start I thought he was really good and I like the rock style of this song. I really love his voice. He is trying to stand out and I hope it works for him. By the way. .. I loved the ending.

Randy - You made a slightly evil version of a LR song. I thought it was brilliant.

Paula - I totally love when you come on that stage. You are a great talent. I believe you are going to be a shining star.

Simon - That was a very brave thing to do and I loved it. I like people who go out there and take a few risks. I hope we are going to see you next week.

David Castro - Nicholas Cage with dreads sang without the guitar. He sang, Hallelujah. I love David's voice. He is so sexy. I don't know that this is something that will be remembered as a great performance but I really liked it.

Randy - Great degree of difficulty. You did a pretty good job. It is a tall order.

Paula - Although it is a level of difficulty. I am so glad that you showed a vulnerability. You are exactly what I love about this season. Unique.

Simon - Jeff Buckley's version is one of my favorite versions of all time. It was brilliant. One of my favorite of the whole night. You are getting better and better and better.
Chikezie - Sang All The Man That I Need. Ahhh I love this friggin song. He sounds awesome on this song and he rocked it. I love his smile and he makes me smile. There I'm friggin cheezy. Sue me. Loved it.
Randy - Interesting song choice. You did a good job. Impressed. I thought it was really good.
Paula - Again, your, your personality..you switched it up on me. You guys are rocking. It's so
good tonight. I am proud of you.
Simon - It was a Whitney song? No...I don't think that worked at all. You were ok on bits. Not as good as last week. I don't think that was a very smart move.
OH wacky Paula...she scares me. At least she wasn't ripping heads off and hanging them from her mirror this week.
Ok...so Luke is leaving is it one or two leaving? I don't remember if it is two...if so it will be Chikeze and Luke.

American Idol Eliminations

31 million votes.

For The Guys
Jason Yeager - I honestly think he has a pretty decent voice but someone has to go right?

Robbie Carrico - I think Robbie is cute but we could lose him although he looked pretty hot to me. A poor man's Brett Michaels.

For The Girls

Alexandrea Lushington - the Hoplessly Devoted to You girl is sobbing and does a little bit of the "ugly cry." She says that she won't be able to sing but manages to sound about the same even with that golf ball in her throat and her eyes and nose running.

Alaina Whitaker - I wasn't surprised about Alaina. I thought she was ok but we could lose her. Someone has to go.

Idol comes back on March 11, with the Top 12.

A whole different ball game people, new stage, and the sign holders of course.

Ruben Studdard is going to be there to performed a song. Haven't we seen Ruben on already?

American Idol Top 10 Girls

Carly Smithson – “Crazy On You” by Heart who I absolutely love. I think Carly is smokin hot. She has an incredible voice and if she can handle Heart she can handle anything. I also dig her tat sleeve. Cool!

Randy - So you picked a rocker this week. It was good towards the middle and the end. Sharp in the beginning. You got it together. It was alright.

Paula - You can tell you love Heart. Just go crazy. You are an amazing singer.
Simon - I thought it was a much better performance than last week. You are panting. I still don't think you have connected with the right song. You are an incredible singer. I think you are the girl they all have to beat. She is one heck of a singer.

Syesha Mercado – “Me And Mr. Jones" Interesting that she has done a commercial prior to Idol. When they showed it, I totally remembered it. "Dwayne, find me a big, beautiful chair." She can sing and I like her. She is really smooth and I like her vibe. The big earrings, the scarf, the fro all add to her appeal.

Randy - I don't think it was a great song choice. Pick songs that you can sing big. Give it what you got. That was a taste of what you got.

Paula - You fall off pitch when you go soft. I like the choices you made.

Simon - I thought it was a bit indulgent. It was a silly thing to do since the song wasn't written for a women. It is not a song that was designed for your voice. I don't think it was a clever choice for you.

Brooke White – “You’re So Vain” I think Brooke is cute. She looks like a mermaid. Sort of like Darryl Hannah in what the hell was that movie. I don't really love this song but dig that she worked the guitar. It was ok. It felt like I was watching some singer on Mike Douglas (probably just aged myself).

Randy - It was a great song choice. I liked it. Was this song about a guy on this panel.

Paula - I feel like this was the perfect song choice for you. Everyone was digging it.

Simon - I absolutely loved it. It was rare occasion where I feel the artist had chose the right song. This was the reason we put you though.

Ramiele Malubay – “Don’t Leave Me This Way”. I really like little chick's voice. She has such a beautiful tone. I never liked this song but she as Randy would say, did her thing, I was just bored.

Randy - Listen this was rough for me. This was just ok. You can really sing. It was kind of ok. Just really ok.

Paula - You are one to beat here. Your vocals are truly amazing. It was a song that you powered through and you didn't get to show your magic.

Simon - Astonishingly I agree with Paula. I have heard it so many times. I thought you were much, much better last week. I think you are different. One of the top 3 in the competition.

Kristy Lee Cook – “You’re No Good” Well, she enjoys "getting dirty" also "if you name it she will try it." Interesting since she has a big male fan base. She looked cute. I didn't think she pulled off this song. What is up with the leg stance? Why does she always look like she is trying to be tough? I didn't like it.

Randy - Well all I can tell you that was a 100 percent improvement over last week. It was pretty in tune. I liked it.

Paula - You are back, you are back, you're back. Good song choice.

Simon - This week was a huge improvement. I am not sure what type of singer you really, really are. If you go the Country route you will find it easier to make a statement.

Amanda Overmyer – Who I like, was sporting some scary hair. We find out Amanda likes to read. Is this shocking? Do you have to look like a librarian to love books? She sang Wayward Son which I actually love and is on one of my favorite albums by Kansas. I didn't love it. I really wanted to. It was a bit rough. The low parts really sucked. She didn't pick a good song for her voice. She also screwed up the words a bit. I think she just wanted to rock out her little crazy leg dance. She sounds good only when she is yelling out some lyrics on this one.

Randy - So you know for me it wasn't the right song choice. Too much melody. Too many instrumental breaks. Versus were very pitchy.

Paula - You got some move. You can dance. Do what fits right. You are special and you are needed in this competition.
Simon - I thought in your film you seemed very natural and then everything felt contrived. None of it felt natural or real. I couldn't wait for it to finish.

Alaina Whitaker – Sang "Hopelessly Devoted To You" Had nothing interesting to say so we hear how she doesn't like the food on her plate to touch. She looked beautiful in her blue dress but I always hated this song. You can go on Sims on Stage anytime and hear people singing this better than her.

Randy - I like that song. I don't think that was the right song. It sounded strange when you belted. It wasn't my favorite.
Paula - I think you did a real good job. I forget how young you are. I don't think it was a bad as Randy heard.
Simon - It's almost as if your grandmother prepared you for this audition. There is a way to be 17 and be current. I actually think you are one of the dark horses. I like you more now. You have to sort yourself out and be more relevant.

Alexandrea Lushington – “If You Leave Me Now” I thought she didn't start out strong. She never found her way for me. It was so boring. She will be leaving tomorrow.
Randy - It was safe. You have made vocal skills, never make safe choices. It was safe and boring.
Paula - I feel like you did let go and you did your own arrangements. Very impressed.
Simon - I was a big fan in the earlier stages. It is absolutely stuck in its time period. You looked uncomfortable. It was boring.
Kady Malloy – “Magic Man” She can sing opera. Who knew? She is so damn cute and her voice started out very weak but sort of found her way. She is attractive but can she keep up with some of the other girls here? I am not really sure why she picked this song. I didn't love it especially the ending.

Randy - Interesting song choices. It never found pitch. You never found it. It didn't work.
Paula - When you powered you sounded great. I think you have many hidden talents.

Simon - I am struggling. I am frustrated. Everything you do on your film is fantastic.

Asia’h Epperson – "All By Myself" Loving the extensions she was sporting but I think she lost some of her cuteness. I wasn't loving it. This is a really hard song to sing and you really need to have the pipes to sing it. She has the pipes but she couldn't handle the song.

Randy - Very difficult. You did a good job with it.
Paula - I can't even translate, mostly arms, legs and mouth. Got the picture?

Simon - Diva song of all time. You have got to be a Diva to pull it off. You have got to be incredible. The song was too big for you. It showed you up.
For me Carly was my favorite. I am a bit disappointed with the girls. I have been hearing that this is the best idol but I am not sure about that. Not many big voices on tonights show.
Good luck ladies.

American Idol Top 10 Boys Sing - Recap

The kids didn't want to get into bed tonight so I missed the first 4 guys but I heard them sing from the bedrooms.

I heard Michael John sang Go Your Own Way. I am a big Fleetwood Mac fan so I was happy to hear my favorite guy sing a song from a band I love. He appeared to lose some of his mojo for me but he can sing and did ok.

Jason Castro is next with I Just Want to Be Your Everything which I believe is an Andy Gibb song. I was putting my daughter to bed and could hear it. I thought it started off good but now I believe it was the music and the fact that I hadn't heard the song in a long time. You know, that nostalgic feeling you get when you hear something that reminds you of yesteryear. He was a little dull but I do love this guy. So friggin cute.

Luke Menard sang Killer Queen and well he um, this just isn't his type of song. It was ok and I do believe he will be going home this week.

Robbie Carrico sang Hot Blooded. I just don't get this guy. Last week Simon mentioned that he thought he is trying to be rock but is more a pop singer. I agree with that. I wasn't impressed though I want to be. Sorry Robbie.
Danny Noriega sang - Superstar by the Carpenters. I am a huge Carpenter fan. I just don't get the Danny hype that I read on the message boards. He disturbs me. He reminds me of Marilyn Manson without the weird clothes and makeup. He did ok. It didn't suck but whatever.

Randy - I felt like you were thinking while you were singing. Let it go. Don't think about it.
Paula - You got amazing vocal skills. You can't over think it. Forget about us. Just perform.
Simon - This was better than last week. I think you were trying so hard. You stand out in the crowd and you are interesting. You look terrific in the camera by the way.

David Hernandez sang Papa was a Rolling Stone. I thought he did a great job. Really great vocal. Plus he reminds me of a kid I know so I am a little jaded. He finished strong.

Randy - This is the David Hernandez we fell in love with. That was hot.
Paula - Your voice is pure. Unbelievable. Amazing notes. Your personality came out. Perfect.
Simon - This may surprise you but in my opinion that was the best vocal of the night. I am a fan.

Jason Yeager - Sang Long Train Runnin. I absolutely love this song. He did a really good job on the vocals. His voice was smooth and really fit the song. I loved the drum break down. Got to love the drums!

Randy - Not a singer kind of song. It was pitchy and karaoke.
Paula - Well, from last week to this week it was fun to see this side of you. Its a song that doesn't have many notes. Pick singer songs.
Simon - Last week was boring, this week was awkward. Horrific ending. Drunk at a party. Corny. Very disappointed.

Chikeze Eze sang a song that I will have to look up. Anyway...he was good. He can sing. He is likable. It's funny because he looks so soft, sweet but then he has that nice, smooth voice.

Randy - So listen this is the guy we fell in love with. You were having fun. That was hot.

Paula - Very clever to pick a song with a story. Brilliant. It was fun.

Simon - I have got to tell you, you look better. You sound better. It was a clever choice of song.

David Cook sang All Right Now with his guitar. I love a guy who can sing and play. I actually love this guy. He is really growing on me. I like the tone and raunch in his voice. Very well suited for this song. His beady eyes are the only thing that turns me off.

Randy - You know what I love. I love the picks thrown to the crowd. You are a real rocker. I liked it. I really believed you right there.

Paula - The band is on fire. You are the real deal. When You got it, you got. Smart, fun, relevant.

Simon - It was solid. I don't think that film helped you. It was boring. You don't have a lot of charisma.

David Archuleta - sang Imagine. He looked different with his hair cut. I didn't love it but I am sure it will grow on me. OMG can this kid sing or what? He is so cute and has a really good voice. Very calm and sweet.

Randy - I have been saying it is about the young ones. THat is one of the best vocals I have heard on this show. You are singing with such maturity. One thing, why didnt you sing the first verse? Fire!

Paula - You are ridiculous I want to squish you and squeeze your head off and hang you from my mirror. One of the most moving perfomances I ever heard.

Simon - Very risky to do John Lennon. It worked. Right now you are the one to beat. 19 miserable contestants after that.

American Idol Eliminations Round 1

OMG...that was crazy.

Ryan has the guys sitting down and asks Garrett Haley to come on over and says, you are done.

Shocking!

Just like that...

While I didn't love Garrett I felt bad that he was being let go. He seemed like a sweet boy.

Anyway...

We said good-bye to Garrett, Colten Berry for the guys.

The girls sent packing were Amy Davis who I expected and Joanne Borgella. I was a little shocked to see Joanne go.

American Idol - Top 12 Girl Sing

Tonight the girls sing for us. I am eager to hear them. The guys didn’t disappoint so I am hoping for big things tonight.

Kristy Lee Cook – The Amazing Grace girl. Sold her horse to come to Hollywood. Sang Rescue Me. She actually bores me a bit. She is cute but it was very karaoke. I have heard better on Sims On Stage.

Randy – It wasn’t your best performance. Rough around the edges.
Paula – It’s ok. Being sick, being the first one is a double whammy. Don’t let that get in the way of your shine.
Simon – This is an important part of the show. We didn’t get a lot from you. Your performance was robotic. Wasn’t anything to grab hold of. Wrong choice of song.

Joanne Borgella – Curvy Jersey Girl! Love her. Sang that song from My Best Friend’s Wedding. What the hell is the name of it? Oh yeah, Say A Little Prayer for You thanks Rickey. I actually like her and thought she did ok. A little boring I won’t remember it tomorrow.

Randy – It was pretty good. You got it together towards the end. Your voice was a little shaky.
Paula – Very nerve racking. You have to pull it together and shine through. I liked it didn’t love it.
Simon – I didn’t like it at all. You have to come out and nail it. Average cabaret version. No confidence.

Alaina Whitaker – She is the very confident 16 year old during Auditions. I actually like her. She is adorable. She sang More Today, Than Yesterday. I actually liked the change up to the song. The piano and her singing was really pretty. I liked the slower part. She was pretty good but I wasn't floored.

Randy – The beginning was a little rough. You were awesome once you got going.
Paula – You proved that you come out and nailed it. Best ending that I’ve heard on that song.
Simon – I think you are very good. I do. I hated the song. The song was corny. If you can make a song as awful as that sound great…

Amanda Ovameyer – I love the Rock and Roll Nurse. She is so good. Sang Baby, Please Don’t Go. I don’t really care what she sings. I love her. She is just good. I want to hear her do something with some words not just scatting.

Randy – I loved that. Bluesy, rocker chick. I like the trouser too. I could rock some of those.
Paula – I just love everything that you do. You are authentic. You are not a one trick pony.
Simon – I really like you. I genurily think you are authentic. Did you forget the words half way through? I hope you stay around for a while. I like you.

Amy Davis – The Bobby McGhee Singer. She sang Where The Boys Are. I love Connie Francis. I thought it was boring because well I want to hear Connie sing. She looked beautiful but for me it was ok. I would like a little more strength in her voice. I didn’t feel it.
Randy – I didn’t think it was great. You got to hit that dead on. You had a lot of pitch problems.
Paula – The camera loves you. I don’t know if it was the most engaging song for you.
Simon – It was what it was. You didn’t sound great. It was boring. Incredibly Cabaret. It wasn’t you at all.

Brooke White - looks like an angel with her white skin and blonde hair. I didn’t love her during Hollywood week. Sang Happy Together. It was better that the girls before her. I liked it and her voice suited the song. I thought she did a good job except for the ba, ba, ba, part. Yuck!

Randy – Check it out. It started rough for me. You worked it out at the end. You have to slay it.
Paula – You have your own thing. That is what this business is about. You picked the right song.
Simon – I think you chose the right song. There are times tonight I feel like I am in some commercial. The blonde hair, the yellow, the happiness. It was very you. I am struggling. You sang it well. You are going to be nice throughout this competition.

Alexandrea Lushington – She is the one whose Great-Grandma was at the audition. I loved her GG. She sang Spinning Wheels. I thought she did ok and showed she could blow. She performed her little heart out but I thought her range was all over and not in a good way.

Randy – You blew the doors off. You stayed on the note.
Paula – You took control. You thought about your performance. I saw more confidence in your performance than any other performer. I am proud of you.
Simon – Terrible 60’s musical. You look great. I don’t think you sounded great. I didn’t think the vocals were great.

Kady Malloy – Cute girl. Sang Groovy Kind of Love. I thought she looked beautiful and I think she was the best vocal so far but the song was a really boring.

Randy – It was ok for me. It was so restrained and controlled. I thought you got lost in the song.
Paula – You look really pretty. I want to see the fun you. The personality.

Simon – Amazinly I agree with Paula. You came across as 80. You got to lighten up.

Aisa’h Epperson – The one who sang for her Dad who had just passed away. She sang A Little Piece of My Heart. I like Aisa’h she is adorable and looked like she was having fun. She can sing and I think it was the only performance I will remember tonight.

Randy – I loved that. I was impressed.
Paula – You had fun up there. Some really good moments.
Simon – It was my favorite of the night. It was what it is all about. You had fun.

Ramiele Malubay Sang You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me. I thought she did a good job. I love this song, it is one of my favorites to sing. I thought she did a good job with the song and the arrangement.

Randy – You took your time. You saved that big voice for the end. You made it your own. Very classy.
Paula – You are a force to be recked with. You have a beautiful range, a tenderness.
Simon – I will be the first to admit I didn’t like you when I first saw you. Tonight you out sung every single person.
Syesha Mercado is the one who lost her voice in Hollywood. She sang Tobacco Road. She did a good job. I thought she was awesome.
Randy – Not my favorite but I liked it.
Paula – Way to go
Simon – I agree. It wasn’t your best performance. One of the most talented girls in this competition. You have an attitude. You try hard. I thought it was terrific.
Carly Smithson – Irish Chick that Idol fans have been complaining about was saved for last so that she can explain about her past career. She sang a friggin song that I had never heard of called Shadow of Your Smile. I love this chick. She is beautiful and has a great singing voice. Very strong and confident. Best performance of the evening.

Randy – So that is what the show is all about. Best vocal of the top 24 right here.
Paula – Lucky coin in the pocket. You do not even have the power in your voice. Beauitful inflections.
Simon – On my own here. I didn’t get it. So much hype about you. So much expectation. I thought the song was way too old fashion for you. Everything about it for me was a let down. Expecting fantastic.
